P-47: Comparison of Sperm Acrosin Activity and DNA Fragmentation between Varicocele and Infertile Individuals

چکیده مقاله:
Background: Introduction assessment of sperm functional tests along with routine semen analysis may provide further information in the etiology of varicocele in different subpopulations. Therefore, in this study, in addition to assessment of sperm chromatin integrity, we aimed to assess the total acrosin activity which has proven to have major role during in vitro and natural fertilization in varicocele compared to fertile individuals.Materials and Methods: Sperm parameters were assessed in individuals with a clinical diagnosed varicocele of grade II or III (n= 70) and fertile men as control group (n= 30). In addition, total acrosin activity and DNA fragmentation were evaluated by spectrophotometery and TUNEL assay respectively. Results: Sperm concentration, percentage of normal morphology and total acrosin activity were significantly higher in fertile compared to varicocele individuals. A significant correlation was observed between total acrosin activity and DNA fragmentation in fertile individuals. Conclusion: The results of this study reveal that unlike DNA fragmentations as the negative parameter for fertility, total acrosin activity as the positive parameters in fertility is higher in the varicocele individuals.

P-13: Comparison of Sperm Quality, Oxidative Stress, DNA Fragmentation, Protamine Deficiency, and DNA Methylation in Varicocele and Fertile Individuals
s:1993:"Background: There are many approaches that gene expression is controlled in eukaryotes. DNA methylation is one of several epigenetic mechanisms that cells use to control gene expression and lock genes in the "off" position. In addition, sperm DNA damage can correlate with DNA methylation defect. There is evidence that sperm of infertile men contain more DNA damage than fertile men and t...

Background: Evaluation and comparison of total acrosin activity along with DNA integrity in the semen samples obtained from the varicocele individuals before and after the surgery and also in fertile individuals. Materials and Methods: Semen parameters, protamine deficiency, DNA fragmentation and Total acrosin activity were measured in patients with a clinical diagnosed varicocele of grade II o...
متن کاملThe effect of rhFSH on Sperm DNA Fragmentation and sperm parameters in Oligozoospermia Infertile Men
Background: One of the main causes of male infertility is the negative effects of oxidative stress. Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) plays an essential role in spermatogenesis, as well as in the maintenance of sperm DNA integrity. This study aimed to determine whether the recombinant human follicle-stimulating hormone (rhFSH) treatment of sperm parameters could positively affect sperm DNA and...
متن کاملCorrelation between sperm parameters and sperm DNA fragmentation in fertile and infertile men
Background: It is established that sperm DNA integrity is essential in fertilization and normal embryo and fetal development. Routine semen analysis gives an approximate evaluation of the functional competence of spermatozoa, but does not always reflect the quality of sperm DNA. Therefore, the evaluation of sperm DNA integrity, in addition to routine sperm parameters, could add further informat...

Forty men undergoing infertility evaluation were divided into four groups according their smoking ability (A: 2 days ( n=10), B: 4 days ( n=10), C: 8 days ( n=10), D: 15 days ( n=10)) sperm parameters ( sperm concentration, pH, Viscosity,...
متن کاملP-193: Chlamydia Trachomatis Can Increase Sperm DNA Fragmentation in Infertile Men
Background: Chlamydia Trachomatis (CT) is an obligate intracellular bacteria, that requires living cells to replicate itself and is responsible for lower urinary tract disease in men and women. It can cause urethritis, epididymitis, orchitis and complications such as chronic prostatitis in men. Chlamydia infections may also directly affect male fertility by damaging the sperm, because sperm par...
